The Oxygen Multi-point system (Matrix) was developed, designed, manufactured, and installed by Sampling Systems at Matimba and Camden Power Station as well as Sasol Chemicals in Sasolburg and Sappi Pulp & Paper.

The purpose of the matrix system is for the continuous oxygen measurement which will produce a more reliable means of boiler control and optimisation. In many applications, especially in big ducts where flue gas is not well mixed, a single point measurement in the centre of the duct is not representative of the average.
The Multi-Point system on these boilers improved the boiler efficiency combined with stricter air pollution control requirements such as dust and NOX emissions. The Matrix system provides a representative flue gas sample, the oxygen measurement can then be reliable and it paves the way for boiler optimisation.
